Setting Up Boundary Conditions

Set the boundary conditions on the die and extrusion.

To set up boundary conditions:
  1. Edit the Regions > die > Boundaries > die wall node and set the following properties:
    Node Property Value
    Physics Conditions
    Shear Stress Specification Method Slip
    Physics Values
    Slip Coefficient Value 1e07
  2. Select inlet > Physics Values > Mass Flow Rate and set Value to 0.05 kg/s.
  3. Edit the Regions > extrusion > Boundaries > free surface node and set the following properties:
    Node Property Value
    Physics Conditions
    Morpher Specification Specification Displacement
    Morpher Displacement Specification Specification Internal
  4. Edit the Regions > extrusion > Boundaries > outflow node and set the following properties:
    Node Property Value
    Physics Conditions
    Morpher Specification Specification Constraint
Morpher Constraint Specification Specification Boundary Plane
    Traction Method Aligned Exit

Setting the Morpher method to Internal at the free surface boundary triggers a free surface calculation on this boundary.

Setting the Morpher method to Constraint at the outflow boundary leaves the boundary free to move without activating free surface tracking.

Setting the Traction method to Aligned Exit sets the velocity tangential to the normal direction to 0, but leaves the aligned component free.
