      The Multi-Component Gas model is used to define the gas mixture of n-dodecane and air. The Non-Premixed Flame model is used since the fuel and air are not premixed. The fuel, n-dodecane, initially exists as droplets that are modeled using the Lagrangian Multiphase model. Since NOx and soot emissions are important to monitor in many industrial applications, the NOx Emissions and Soot Emissions models are also used.

  - Flamelet Generated Manifold: Perfectly Premixed Combustion with Adaptive Meshing
    This tutorial simulates lean perfectly-premixed propane combustion using the Flamelet Generated Manifold (FGM) model in a combustor where the flame is stabilized behind a V-shaped bluff body. The Large Eddy Simulation (LES) model is used to directly resolve the large scales of the turbulence, and model the small scale motions, in the flow domain.

Running the Simulation

In this section, you adjust the solver settings and stopping criteria before running the simulation.

To adjust the solver settings, expand the Solvers node and set the following properties:

In industrial cases, to relieve any instabilities, you can reduce the maximum and minimum courant numbers for the Lagrangian Multiphase solver.

To define the stopping criteria, select the Stopping Criteria > Maximum Steps node and set Maximum Steps to 500.
Save the simulation.
Run the simulation.
When the simulation is complete, click Save.
