Fiala Thermoregulation Models (Coupled and Segregated) Reference

The Fiala Thermoregulation models are multi-segment, multi-node models that extensively simulate the human body, including the predictions of overall and local physiological responses. They are based on the average person, with a detailed multi-layered structure of the human body. They model the environmental heat exchange, including local heat losses and gains from the body by free and forced convection, solar irradiation, long-wave radiation, evaporation of moisture from the skin, and insulation effect of the clothing.

The only interfaces allowed between the thermal comfort region and fluid or solid regions are contact-based interfaces. If the Segregated or Coupled Fiala Thermoregulation model is selected, the Thermal Specification is automatically set to Conjugate Heat Transfer and Clothing Evaporative Resistance, and Contact Resistance profiles are added to the interface. Field Functions

The following thermal network field functions cannot be visualized in scenes. They can be used in reports or XY plots.

Fiala Manikin Layer Index
The layer index for each node of the thermal network that represents a manikin segment.
Fiala Manikin Nodal Volume
The volume of each node of the thermal network that represents a manikin segment.
Fiala Manikin Sector Index
The index of the sector of the manikin segment for each node of the thermal network that represents a manikin segment.
Fiala Manikin Segment Index
The index of the manikin segment for each node of the thermal network that represents a manikin segment.
