Solid Stress Normal Modes Reference

The Solid Stress Normal Modes model and solver allow you to perform a normal mode analysis on a solid structure.

Solid Stress Normal Modes Solver Properties

Algorithm (read only)
Specifies the algorithm used for the eigenvalue solver. Currently only the Krylov-Schur algorithm is available.
Model Compatibility
Allows you to select whether the model compatibility is enforced. The options for this are:
  • Enforce—stops the normal mode analysis if the simulation contains incompatible settings such as:
    • The Rayleigh Damping model
    • The Gravity model
    • Segment loads
    • Thermal models within a linear setup
    • FSI interfaces within a linear setup
  • Ignore— allows the normal modes analysis to run to completion when incompatible settings are present within the simulation. The final normal mode analysis may be inaccurate depending on the incompatibilities.

Eigen Solver Properties

Convergence Tolerance
Specifies the convergence for the eigenvalue solver.
Iterations
Specifies the maximum number of iterations required to converge the eigenvalue problem.

Frequency Selection Properties

Smallest/Largest
Allows you to select the range of eigenmodes extracted from the solution. The options are:
  • Smallest—allows you to extract the lowest eigenmodes from the eigenvalue problem.
  • Largest—allows you to extract the highest eigenmodes from the eigenvalue problem
Number of frequencies
Specifies the desired number of eigenmodes to be extracted from the solution.

Normal Modes Results Properties

Extracted (read only)
Specifies extracted data sets present within the normal modes results table.

Vector field function that describes the modal displacement. For more information, see Normal Modes

Solid Stress Normal Mode Right-Click Actions

Perform Normal Modes Analysis
Executes the normal mode analysis for the specified properties.
New Normal Mode View
Creates a Normal Mode View under Solution Views. For more information, see Normal Modes View Reference.

Normal Modes Results Right Click Actions

Export...
Allows you to save the normal modes solution data to a .csv file.
Extract
Allows you to extract the Mode, Frequency, and Eigen Value data from the normal modes solution.
Tabulate...
Allows you to visualize the normal modes solution data in a table within Simcenter STAR-CCM+.
