K-Epsilon Field Functions Reference

This section details the field functions that are made available to the simulation when a K-Epsilon turbulence model is used.

Effective Viscosity
Scalar field that represents the sum of the laminar and turbulent viscosities μ+μt.
Elliptic Blending Function (EB KE, EBL KE)
Scalar field that represents the transported variable α.
Kolmogorov Length Scale
Scalar field that represents the turbulent length scale η, as defined in Eqn. (1484).
This field is only available when the Temporary Storage Retained option is ticked for the K-Epsilon Turbulence solver.
Kolmogorov Time Scale
Scalar field that represents the turbulent time scale τη, as defined in Eqn. (1485).
This field is only available when the Temporary Storage Retained option is ticked for the K-Epsilon Turbulence solver.
Reduced Stress Function (EB KE, EBL KE)
Scalar field that represents the transported variable φ.
Reynolds Stresses (SKE, SKE LRe, SKE 2L)
Scalar fields that represent the specific normal and shear stresses:
  • Reynolds Stress uu
  • Reynolds Stress uv
  • Reynolds Stress uw
  • Reynolds Stress vv
  • Reynolds Stress vw
  • Reynolds Stress ww

These fields are only available when a non-linear Constitutive Relation is used and when the Temporary Storage Retained property is ticked for the K-Epsilon Turbulence solver. If the simulation is two-dimensional, only the UU, VV, and UV stresses are exposed. All other stresses are equal to zero.

Strain Rate Tensor Modulus
Scalar field that represents the modulus of the mean strain rate tensor S, as defined in Eqn. (1129).

This field is only available when the Temporary Storage Retained option is ticked for the relevant turbulence solver.

Taylor Micro Scale
Scalar field that represents the turbulent length scale λ, as defined in Eqn. (1486).
This field is only available when the Temporary Storage Retained option is ticked for the K-Epsilon Turbulence solver.
Turb Wall Distance Re (RKE 2L, SKE LRe, SKE 2L)
Scalar field that represents the wall distance Reynolds number Red, as defined in Eqn. (1134).
Turbulent Dissipation Rate
Scalar field that represents the transported variable ε .
Turbulent Kinetic Energy
Scalar field that represents the transported variable k .
Turbulent Viscosity
Scalar field that represents the turbulent viscosity μt.
Turbulent Viscosity Ratio
Scalar field that represents the ratio of turbulent to laminar viscosity μt/μ.
