Remeshing Workflows

An example workflow using remeshing model is introduced here.

NoteWhen you use the Remeshing model in conjunction with mesh morphing, specify the displacement of the morphing boundary using incremental displacements, rather than total displacements. For more information, see: Total Displacement.

Moving Box using Remeshing Model

Problem

Move a box through a channel over time using mesh morphing and remeshing. During successive morphing, the mesh quality decreases while the displacement increases. A remesh is triggered when the cell quality falls below the criteria defined within the Remeshing model.

Workflow

To achieve this type of setup:

  • In the physics continuum to which the remeshing region is assigned, activate the Remeshing model from the physics continuum.
  • In the physics continuum, select all three operations defined in Geometry > Operations.
  • Define the following two mesh criteria:
    1. Activate the Check Cell Quality and set Min Cell Quality to 0.001.
    2. Activate the Check User Defined Quality, select the field function Skewness Angle as User Defined Quality and set the Max User Defined Quality to 80.0.
  • (Optional) Select the SolverRemeshingnode and set up an additional remeshing trigger and its frequency.

The workflow is simplified comparing to the method using Simulation Operations—Moving Box using Morpher and Remeshing. Furthermore, the morphing process is predictive when applying the Remeshing model.
