The finite element model that you defined contains the required solid mesh and material properties. To specify solver settings and boundary conditions, you create a simulation file from the finite element model.
To create the simulation file:
-
In the
Simulation Navigator panel, right-click
disc_fem1.fem and select
New Simulation...
-
In the
New Part File dialog:
-
Set the following properties:

Set this property to the
Simcenter 3D folder in your working directory.

Click
OK.
-
In the
New Simulation dialog, click
OK.
-
In the
Solution dialog:
-
Set
Solution Type to
SOL 401 STAR-CCM+ Co-simulation.
-
Click on Create Solution.
-
Leave all other settings to their default values and click
OK.
-
In the
Solution Step dialog:
-
Set Step to
Subcase -
Dynamics.
FSI simulations require a dynamic solid analysis. Dynamic analyses
include the inertial terms, which help to stabilize the coupled FSI
solution.
-
Click on Create Step.

0.1
The default unit is seconds. The end time matches
the maximum physical time in the Simcenter STAR-CCM+
simulation.
|
Number of
Increments
|
100
100 increments in 0.1 s gives a time-step of
0.001 s, which matches the time-step in the Simcenter STAR-CCM+
simulation.
