Remeshing the Fluid in Simcenter STAR-CCM+
Large displacements of the solid can lead to large deformations of the fluid mesh. To preserve the mesh quality, you can remesh the fluid in Simcenter STAR-CCM+ before continuing the co-simulation.
To remesh the fluid in Simcenter STAR-CCM+:
- If the co-simulation is running, stop the co-simulation.

Depending on the selected Mapping Option, continue as
follows:
Mapping Option Steps Partner Maps Both Directions - Remesh the fluid in Simcenter STAR-CCM+. Simcenter STAR-CCM+ automatically disconnects from Abaqus.
- Specify restart settings following the procedure in Restarting From a Previous Abaqus Simulation.
- In Simcenter STAR-CCM+, click Run.
Map Both Directions This option requires Simcenter STAR-CCM+ to be connected to Abaqus when remeshing the fluid. - Select the and check the connection state.
- Depending on the connection state, continue as follows:
- If Simcenter STAR-CCM+ is
connected to Abaqus:
- Remesh the fluid in Simcenter STAR-CCM+.
- Click Run.
- If Simcenter STAR-CCM+ is
disconnected from Abaqus:
- Specify restart settings following the procedure in Restarting From a Previous Abaqus Simulation.
- To connect to Abaqus, initialize the solution in Simcenter STAR-CCM+.
- Remesh the fluid.
- Click Run.
- If Simcenter STAR-CCM+ is
connected to Abaqus:
