Importing the TAITherm Model

After you launch Simcenter STAR-CCM+ and start a simulation, you can import the TAITherm model (.ntl or .neu) in one of two ways:
  • If the CFD model is being developed from scratch, then select File > Import Surface Mesh... to import the TAITherm model as a surface mesh or geometry part. This import option is useful if you wish to generate a volume mesh from the TAITherm model, for example to compute a fluid solution for a volume that is adjacent to the TAITherm shells.
  • If the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ simulation model is already loaded, then select File > Import CAE Model... to load the TAITherm model file. This option allows you to import and map solution data for the TAITherm model. Note that the Create new Region option in the Import Options dialog cannot be used for TAITherm model import, as it does not apply to shells.

To set up a fluid-structure interaction case, it may be necessary to use the first import method to create the fluid volume, then use the second method to import the structural shells. File-based coupling techniques can then be used to couple the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ and TAITherm models.
