Modifying the GT-SUITE Simulation for Co-Simulation

After running a standalone GT-SUITE analysis to convergence, you modify the GT-SUITE simulation for coupling with Simcenter STAR-CCM+.

The required steps include:
  • Adding CFD objects, to couple the one-dimensional GT-SUITE model with the three-dimensional simulation in Simcenter STAR-CCM+.
  • Creating and adding CFD Interfaces, which switch the flow solution from the one-dimensional components to Simcenter STAR-CCM+ when coupling begins.
  • Creating and adding CFD Connections, which represent the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ boundaries in GT-SUITE.
  • Creating and adding a CFD Component, which represents the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ domain in GT-SUITE.
  • Defining a species map that reduces the computational costs in Simcenter STAR-CCM+ by solving fewer gas components.
  • Making sure that the GT-SUITE simulation duration contains the coupled cycles. This practice allows the GT-SUITE solver to collect results for the coupled cycles for post-processing within GT-POST.
