In some modeling scenarios the level of detail in an imported CAD file is higher than necessary for the simulation. To simplify geometry in these cases, Simcenter STAR-CCM+ provides geometry repair and defeaturing tools within 3D-CAD, along with a shape-based search function.
Importing the Geometry

Importing the Geometry

For this tutorial, you are required to import the European truck geometry.

To import the European truck geometry in 3D-CAD:

Create a new Simcenter STAR-CCM+ simulation.
Right-click the Geometry > 3D-CAD Models node and select New.
Within the 3D-CAD environment, rename the 3D-CAD Model 1 node to European Truck.
Right-click the European Truck node and select Import > CAD Model.
In the Open dialog, navigate to the geometry folder of the downloaded tutorials bundle.

Select euroTruck_browserTools.x_t, then click Open.
Save the simulation as euroTruck_browserTools.sim.
