Outlet
The outlet boundary represents the outlet of a duct.
You can specify the outflow using one of the following options:
- Mass flow rate through the boundary
- Split ratio of the total mass flow rate through all of the outlet boundaries in the simulation
For the second option, the sum of all flow split fractions from all of the outlet boundaries must equal 1.0. When only one flow split boundary bounds the continuum, it is assumed that all the flow exits through this boundary.
The pressure is not specified at an outlet.
For more information, see Outlet.
Application
Incompressible internal flows, with multiple outlets, for which the flow split between the outlets is specified.
Compatibility
- Not suitable for outflow boundaries at which recirculation (inflow) occurs
- For outlets with specified split ratio:
- Should not be used with compressible flows
- Cannot exist in the same continuum as pressure outlet, stagnation inlet, and mass flow inlet boundaries, or mixing-plane interfaces
