Generalized Newtonian Fluid: Power Law Model

In this section of the tutorial, set up the models and select the input data for the simulation of a generalized Newtonian fluid, then use the Fitting Tool from the Material Calibration model to obtain a fitted curve for shear rate versus shear viscosity. Use this curve to establish material properties.

A generalized Newtonian fluid model describes a viscosity function depending on shear rate. Therefore, the experimental data used here consists of measured viscosity versus shear rate. The generalized Newtonian model used here is the Power-Law model:

μ(γ˙)=kγ˙n1

where the consistency factor k and the power law exponent n are the model parameters to be obtained through the curve-fitting.
