Running the Simulation

You set the stopping criteria to a maximum physical time to allow for about three flow throughs.

First, you freeze the Adaptive Mesh solver and run the simulation for a physical time of 0.03s—the equivalent of one flow through of this transient solution. This allows time for the flame to establish itself on the V part of the combustor before initiating mesh refinement. Then, you unfreeze the Adaptive Mesh solver, adjust the maximum physical time to 0.09s, and continue to run the simulation.
To run the simulation:
  1. Expand the Stopping Criteria node and set the following properties:
    Node Property Setting
Maximum Physical Time Maximum Physical Time 0.03 s
Maximum PISO Correctors Maximum PISO Correctors 5
    Maximum Steps Enabled Deactivated
  2. To run the simulation, click (Run).
  3. When the initial stopping criteria is met:
    1. Select the Solvers > Adaptive Mesh node and deactivate Solver Frozen.
    2. Select the Stopping Criteria > Maximum Physical Time node and set Maximum Physical Time to 0.09 s.
    3. Click (Run).
  4. When the simulation is complete, click (Save).
