      Select the physics models required to define the behavior of the multiphase continuum.
    - Defining Lagrangian Phases
      A Lagrangian phase is used to define the solid particles in the simulation. The phase requires specific models and properties to characterize its behavior. In this case, the solid particles are cylindrical tablets, with the material properties set by the user. In a later step, you define interactions between tablets and the mixer walls and between other tablets.

      The DEM particle interactions define how the particles behave when they collide with one another and with the drum walls.

      Define the rotational velocity of the drum wall.

Load the Base Simulation

A base simulation file has been prepared for this simulation. Continue by loading the base simulation file and saving it under a different file name.

Create a directory for the tutorial called rotatingdrum.
In this directory, copy the file containing the problem geometry (rotatingDrumBase.sim) from the discreteElementMethod folder of the downloaded tutorial files.
Start up Simcenter STAR-CCM+ in a manner that is appropriate to your working environment.
Click (Load Simulation) from the tool bar and open rotatingDrumBase.sim.
Save the new simulation to disk under file name rotatingDrum.sim.
