Adjusting the Normalization Factor
To improve the appearance of the residuals, especially with turbulent cases, adjust the normalization factor.
The initial conditions for turbulence (and also velocity) often lead to situations where there are low levels of turbulence within the first 5 iterations, which is when Simcenter STAR-CCM+ calculates the residual normalization. As a result, as turbulence develops within the domain, the normalized turbulence peaks at a value much larger than 1.0. If you are concerned that the final value of this turbulence can hover higher than the other residuals, change the normalization factor to get a peak residual of 1.0.
For details on how to set the normalization factor, see Normalizing the Monitor Data.
