The Nitrogen Oxide Relaxation Approach (NORA) model is a NOx prediction model
that is available in conjunction with the ECFM models.
The NORA model is based on the tabulation of equilibrium values of three NOx species and
their relaxation times following a perturbation [813]. NORA makes a distinction between NO, NO2
and N2O and these products are represented separately in the model.
The generation of NORA tabular
libraries is based on complex chemistry as well as on thermal considerations. Two main
chemical mechanisms are employed: one for the NO-NO2 couple and the other for
N2O. The transport equations for NO, NO2 and N2O
are then given by:

The source terms , , and are calculated by reading three relaxation times , , and as well as the equilibrium NOx values , , and from the tables in the supplied libraries. The relevant
