Starting Abaqus/CAE and Importing Geometry

In this tutorial, you are provided with a geometry of the exhaust manifold. Import the manifold geometry into Abaqus/CAE as a part.

To import the geometry:
  1. Navigate to the couplingWithCaeCodes folder of the downloaded tutorial files and copy the file manifold.x_t into the /thermalCoSimTutorial/abaqus/ directory.
To import the manifold geometry into Abaqus/CAE as a part:
  1. Launch Abaqus/CAE.
  2. In the Start Session dialog, set Create Model Database to With Standard/Explicit Model.
  3. Select File > Import > Part...
  4. In the Import Part dialog, change File Filter to Parasolid (*.x_t*,*.x_b*,*.xmt*) using the drop-down list.
  5. Navigate to the /thermalCoSimTutorial/abaqus/ directory and select the file manifold.x_t.
  6. Click OK.
  7. In the Create Part from PARASOLID File dialog, accept the default options by clicking OK.
  8. If a warning message regarding imprecise geometry is displayed, click Dismiss.
In this case, imprecise geometry does not affect the analysis, since the part is meshed using tetrahedral elements.
The geometry import process takes a few minutes, and when it is complete the manifold part is displayed in the viewport.
