Loading an Existing Simulation

You start from an existing simulation file that contains objects and solution data from the tutorial Gasoline Engine: Charge Motion.

To start this tutorial, you can either:
  • use your own version of the simulation file from the Gasoline Engine: Charge Motion tutorial, if you have already worked through it; or,
  • use the version from the tutorials files bundle located on the customer success portal.

    To obtain the simulation file from the bundle:

    1. Follow the instructions in Downloading the Tutorial Files from the Support Center Portal.
    2. After extracting the package to disk, navigate to the inCylinder folder of the downloaded tutorial files and copy the file GasolineEngineChargeMotion_final.sim into your working directory.
To open the simulation file in Simcenter STAR-CCM+ In-cylinder:
  1. Launch Simcenter STAR-CCM+.
  2. Select File > Load....
  3. In the Load a File dialog, select an appropriate parallel option and set Compute Processes to at least 16.
  4. At the bottom of the dialog, click Browse....
  5. In the Open dialog, navigate to your working directory, select GasolineEngineChargeMotion_final.sim, then click Open.
  6. In the Load a File dialog, click OK.
  7. From the top menubar, select Mesh > Clear Generated Meshes.
  8. In the Clear Generated Meshes dialog, click Yes.
  9. From the toolbar, click (Open Simcenter STAR-CCM+ In-Cylinder).
  10. In Simcenter STAR-CCM+ In-cylinder, click Update.
  11. Select File > Save As... and save the simulation as GasolineEngineCombustion.sim.
