Preparing the Plots and Scenes for Visualization

To watch the solution develop, you open the plots for the temperature and for the pressure in the cylinder. Additionally, you create a scene that displays the reaction progress variable.

To open the plots:
  1. Multi-select the Results > Plots > In-Cylinder - Cylinder > Cylinder : Temperature and Cylinder : Pressure nodes, right-click on one of the selected nodes, and select Open.
The plots open in the Graphics window.

For the scene that displays the reaction progress variable, you copy the Fuel Distribution scene and modify the displayed scalar field. The Fuel Distribution scene is already set up in such a way as to write image files at regular intervals after each deg CA.

To create the reaction progress variable scene:
  1. Right-click the Scenes > Fuel Distribution node and select Copy.
  2. Right-click the Scenes node and select Paste.
  3. Rename the copy to Reaction Progress Variable.
  4. Rename Reaction Progress Variable > Fuel/Air Equivalence Ratio Derived Parts Scalar 1 to Reaction Progress Variable Derived Parts Scalar 1.
  5. Select the Reaction Progress Variable Derived Parts Scalar 1 > Scalar Field node and set Function to ECFM > Progress Variables > Premix Progress Variable.
  6. Save the simulation .
