Defining the Phase Interaction

Using the Multiphase Interaction model, you can define the interaction between the gas and liquid phases.

To model cavitation, use the VOF Multiphase Interaction model and the Schnerr-Sauer cavitation model.

When you create a phase interaction, you select the primary phase first, and then the secondary phase. In this simulation, the primary phase is H2O and the secondary phase is H2O (G).

To define the phase interaction:

  1. In the Injector continuum, right-click the Models > Multiphase Interaction > Phase Interactions node and select New > H2O > H2O (G).
  2. For the Phase Interaction 1 phase interaction, select the following models:

    Group Box

    Model

    Optional Models

    Multiphase Material

    Cavitation Models

    Schnerr-Sauer

  3. Click Close.
Define the appropriate parameters for the Schnerr-Sauer cavitation model. The saturation pressure is set on the relevant material property node for the liquid phase.
  1. Select the Models > Multiphase > Phases > H2O > Models > Liquid > H2O > Material Properties > Saturation Pressure > Constant node and set Value to 2338.0 Pa.
  2. Save the simulation.
