Design Manager
Design Manager provides an automated approach within Simcenter STAR-CCM+ to run design exploration studies. Design exploration covers both performance assessment and optimization.
- Study Inputs
  In Design Manager, study inputs are parameters that you define in the reference simulation and that Design Manager can modify during design studies.
- Study Outputs
  For each design simulation in a design study, Design Manager allows you to record and write specific outputs.
- Surrogate Models
  In Design Manager, a surrogate is a predictive function that returns an estimated response value for a given set of numerical input parameters. Design Manager computes surrogate functions by fitting data from design study simulations to chosen surrogate models such as Kriging or Least Squares.
- Study Types
  Design Manager offers several types of design study by which you can explore the design space of your product.
- Study Runs
  Design Manager allows you to run design studies on your local workstation or on a high performance cluster. You can run the design simulations sequentially or concurrently, in serial or in parallel. In addition, you can customize the simulation run by inserting Java macros that contain additional setup for the simulation. Design Manager optimizes runs by caching meshes and reusing them where possible.

  Design Manager provides post-processing capabilities by which you can analyze the outputs of a design study.

Plots	See Plots Reference.

Data Series	None.
[Data Series]	Input Design Studies Specifies the design study used as the input study for the plot. Input Design Sets Specifies which design sets are visible in the chart. The options are: All: All design sets are visible. Error: Only design sets that have failed are visible. Feasible: Only feasible design sets are visible. Successful: Only successful design sets are visible. Infeasible: Only infeasible design sets are visible. Show Legend Entry When Legend is set to Visible, the chart legend is shown.
Pie Chart Styles	None.
Label Settings	Visible When on, labels are visible in the chart that describe what each wedge of the chart specifies. Display Percentage When on, each label includes a percentage contribution of the total output. Display Quantity When on, each label displays the exact number of design sets which are included within the respective wedge. Font Specifies the font family, font style, and font size. Label Placement Specifies the position of the labels within the chart. The options are: Inset: label is positioned inside the wedge. As Callout: label is displayed on the outer border of the pie chart. Auto: label is positioned dependent on size of the wedge and label.
Border Settings	See Line and Symbol Style Properties.
Legend	Visible When on legend is visible within the chart. Position Positions the legend in the specified area of the chart. The options for this are based on the directions of a compass apart from custom which enables you to move the legend to the position you want. Layout Specifies the layout of the legend as either Horizontal or Vertical. Font Specifies the font family, font style, and font size. Item Spacing Specifies the amount of space between each legend entry and the legend border. Number of Rows Sets the number of rows within the legend. Number of Columns Sets the number of columns within the legend. x-Position Sets the position of the legend with respect to the x origin. y-Position Sets the position of the legend with respect to the y origin.
Annotations	Annotations Adds the selected annotations within the plot window.

[Pie Chart]	Export As Scene (*.sce) Allows you to save the chart as a Viewer file. Hardcopy... Allows you to save the chart as a .png file. Hardcopy to Clipboard Copies the plotting window to the clipboard. Apply Plot Options Applies the user defined default plotting setting to the chart, as defined by the Default Options Menu. See Simcenter STAR-CCM+ Default Options for more information
Data Series	Add Data If none is selected, this allows you to add a design study to a blank pie chart Reorder Data Series When multiple design studies are presented in the same chart, the order of the data series can be rearranged, currently as there is only one data series contained within the pie chart you cannot reorder the data series.
