AMUSIG Fixed Bins Model Reference

The Adaptive Multiple Size-Group Fixed Bins model allows you to visualize dispersed bubble and droplet populations in user-specified size groups (bins). The fixed partitioning of the phase space can make the simulation results easier to interpret. This model is used for post-processing only, it has no effect on the simulation.

When you activate this model, the population balance is still determined using the AMUSIG method, but the solution is then projected onto a fixed grid. The model divides the phase space into fixed bins and then redistributes the AMUSIG size groups into the appropriate bins.

Fixed Bins Properties

Fixed Bins Specification

Specifies how the fixed bins are determined:

  • Geometric

The default option. The Geometric Bin End Points property (read-only) displays the maximum particle diameter for each bin.

  • User Specified

Specify the maximum diameter of particles for each bin as the Specified Bin End Points property.

Number of Size Bins

The default value is 5.

Ratio Exponent

This value is q in Eqn. (2307). The default value is 1.0.

This property is available only when Fixed Bins Specification is Geometric.

Minimum Bin Size

The maximum particle size for the first bin. The default is 0.001 m.

This property is available only when Fixed Bins Specification is Geometric.

Geometric Bin End Points

Displays the maximum particle diameter for each bin (read-only).

This property is available only when Fixed Bins Specification is Geometric.

Specified Bin End Points

Specifies the maximum particle diameter for each bin.

This property is available only when Fixed Bins Specification is User Specified.
