Particulate Flows

Particulate flows describe multiphase flow regimes that deal with gas-solid or liquid-solid flows.

Particle-Laden Flows
Particle-laden flow represents flow of discrete solid particles in a continuous gas. Examples for this type of flow regime are pneumatic transport of powders.
Granular flow represents flow of discrete solid particles in a continuous fluid. In case of high particle loading, interactions between particles that impose additional stresses cannot be neglected, and it is required to model these by use of the granular flow model. Examples for this type of flow regime are fluidized beds or pneumatic conveyors.
Slurry Flows
Slurry flow represents the flow of discrete solid particles in liquids. Examples are cement.
