In an implicit CHT simulation, the heat transfer is solved through contact interfaces without any mapping procedure. However, a multi-timescale simulation solves the two regions consecutively. The energy coupling is achieved using an explicit mapped contact interface where the Boundary Heat Flux and Specified Y+ Heat Transfer Coefficient are exchanged across the interface.

    - Importing the Surface Mesh

Simcenter STAR-CCM+ provides a coupling strategy that permits distinct transient timescales for the solid and fluid components.

To define the explicit mapped contact interface:

Select Interfaces > Gas/Manifold (Thermal) and set Type to Mapped Contact Interface.
Select the Gas/Manifold (Thermal) > Physics Conditions > Energy Coupling Option and set Energy Coupling Option to Explicit.
Save the simulation.
