    - Defining the Explicit Mapped Contact Interface
      In an implicit CHT simulation, the heat transfer is solved through contact interfaces without any mapping procedure. However, a multi-timescale simulation solves the two regions consecutively. The energy coupling is achieved using an explicit mapped contact interface where the Boundary Heat Flux and Specified Y+ Heat Transfer Coefficient are exchanged across the interface.

      To simplify the scenario being modeled, for the fluid region you define constant temperature and constant velocity at the inlet.

Simcenter STAR-CCM+ provides a coupling strategy that permits distinct transient timescales for the solid and fluid components.

Importing the Surface Mesh

The provided file, multiTimeScaleCHT_geom.x_b, contains a fluid part and a solid part and the interface between them. To set up the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ simulation, first launch a new simulation and import the supplied geometry.

To import the surface mesh:

Launch Simcenter STAR-CCM+.
Start a new simulation.
Select File > Import > Import Surface Mesh.
In the Open dialog, navigate to heatTransferAndRadiation.
Select multiTimeScaleCHT_geom.x_b then click Open.
To accept the default Import Surface Options, click OK.

To visualize the manifold geometry:

Rename the existing geometry scene to Manifold Geometry.
Save the simulation as manifold_multiscale.sim.
