Selecting the Physics Models for the Solid Manifold

Here you define a physics continuum for the manifold as a solid.

To select the physics models for the solid manifold:

  1. Create a physics continuum named Thermal Analysis - Manifold Physics.
  2. For the physics continuum, Continua > Thermal Analysis - Manifold Physics, select the following models in order:

    Group Box

    Model

    Space Three Dimensional
    Time Implicit Unsteady
    Material Solid
    Optional Models Segregated Solid Energy

    Gradients (selected automatically)

    Equation of State Constant Density
  3. To review the models, open the Thermal Analysis - Manifold Physics > Models node.

  4. Right-click the Models > Solid > Al node and select Replace With....
  5. In the Replace Material dialog, expand the Material Databases node and select Ductile Iron.
  6. Select the Continua > Thermal Analysis - Manifold Physics > Initial Conditions > Static Temperature node and set Value to 300.0 K.
  7. Select the Regions > Manifold (Thermal) node and set Physics Continuum to Thermal Analysis - Manifold Physics.
The region type is switched automatically to Solid Region.
  8. Save the simulation.
