Visualizing the Temperature

Here you create 3 reports and 1 scene by which to visualize the temperature.

To visualize the temperature:

  1. To visualize the transient volume-averaged solid temperature progression:
    1. Right-click the Reports node and select New > Metrics > Volume Average.
    2. Rename the report to Average Solid Temp and set the following properties:
      Property Setting
      Unit C
      Field Function Temperature
      Parts Manifold (Thermal)
  2. To visualize the transient maximum solid temperature:
    1. Right-click the Reports node and select New > User > Maximum.
    2. Rename the report to Max Solid Temp and set the following properties:
      Property Setting
      Unit C
      Field Function Temperature
      Parts Manifold (Thermal)
  3. To visualize the transient minimum solid temperature:
    1. Right-click the Reports node and select New > User > Minimum.
    2. Rename the report to Min Solid Temp and set the following properties:
      Property Setting
      Unit C
      Field Function Temperature
      Parts Manifold (Thermal)
  4. Create a plot that displays the average as well as the maximum and minimum solid temperatures over time:
    1. Multi-select the reports Average Solid Temp, Max Solid Temp and Min Solid Temp.
    2. Right-click on any of the selected reports and select Create Monitor and Plot from Report.
    3. Click Single Plot.
    4. Select the Plots > Reports Plot node and rename it to Solid Temps.
    5. Edit the Plots > Solid Temps > Data Series node and select different values for Line Style so as to distinguish the three generated monitors.
  5. To create a new scalar scene for temperature:
    1. Right-click the Scenes node and select New > Scalar. Rename the node to Temperature.
    2. Delete the Scenes > Temperature > Outline node.
    3. Edit the Scalar 1 > Parts node and set the following property:
      Property Select
      Parts
      • Mesh Threshold 1
      • Mesh Threshold 2
    4. Edit the Scalar 1 > Scalar Field node and set the following properties:
      Property Select
      Function Temperature
      Unit C
    5. Edit the Scalar 1 > Color Bar node and set the Color Map to cool-warm.
    6. Right-click the Plots > Solid Temps node and select Create Plot Image Annotation.
    7. Select the Tools > Annotations > Plot Image 1 node and drag and drop the plot image into the Temperature scene.
  6. Save the simulation.
