Plotting the Film Width and Thickness

You create an X-Y graph that plots the width of the film from the centerline, given by the Y-coordinate, over the extrusion direction coordinate X. Another graph plots the film thickness across the outlet, that is, along the chill roll.

To plot the film width:
  1. Right-click Plots and select New Plot > XY Plot.
  2. Select the XY Plot 1 node and rename it as Film Width.
  3. Select the Film Width node and set the following properties:
    Property Setting
    Title Film Width
Parts Regions > Film > Boundaries > Film Free Surface
  4. Define the X axis:
    1. Select the Film Width > X Type node and set Data Type to Scalar.
    2. Select the X Type > Scalar Function node and set Field Function to Position > Laboratory > X.
  5. Define the Y axis:
    1. Select the Film Width > Y Types > Y Type 1 node and activate Smooth Values.
    2. Select the Y Type 1 > Scalar Function node and set Field Function to Position > Laboratory > Y.
To plot the film thickness:
  1. Right-click Plots and select New Plot > XY Plot.
  2. Select the XY Plot 1 node and rename it as Film Thickness.
  3. Select the Film Thickness node and set the following properties:
    Property Setting
    Title Film Thickness Across Outlet
Parts Regions > Film > Boundaries > Chill Roll
  4. Define the X axis:
    1. Select the Film Thickness > X Type node and set Data Type to Scalar.
    2. Select the X Type > Scalar Function node and set Field Function to Position > Laboratory > Y.
  5. Define the Y axis:
    1. Select the Film Thickness > Y Types > Y Type 1 node and activate Smooth Values.
    2. Select the Y Type 1 > Scalar Function node and set Field Function to Film Thickness.
  6. Save the simulation.
