Analyzing the Results

View the results of the converged simulation and calculate the junction-to-ambient thermal resistance.

After the run is finished, examine the velocity and temperature displays:
  1. Click the Electronics Cooling 1 tab at top of the Graphics window.
    The following screenshots display the air flow inside the chamber and the temperature of the package.

Determine the junction-to-ambient thermal resistance θJA:
  1. Right-click the Results > Reports > Probe Temperatures node and select Tabulate.
    Within the Tabular Data dialog, the following data are displayed:
    QP/QPS Field Minimum/Maximum/Average
    Junction Temperature 306.112 K
    Thermocouple Temperature 300.536 K
  2. Calculate θJA as:
    θJA=TJTAPH=306.112K300.536K1.0W=5.576KW
