Importing and Replacing Sketch Curves

You can combine tabular and user-created sketches by importing a curve into an existing 2D or 3D sketch. You can also replace a specific spline within a sketch with a new spline from a .csv file to enable tabular-based design changes.

All curves that you import must be in .csv format. See File Format for Imported Curves.

To import and replace sketch curves:

  1. Choose where to import the sketch curves, or which spline to replace:
    • To import sketch curves into an existing sketch, right-click the target sketch in the 3D-CAD feature tree and select Import Curves.

    • To replace an existing spline within a sketch, while in sketch mode, right-click the target spline and select Replace Sketch Primitive.

  2. In the Open dialog, select the .csv file that contains the curve data and click OK.
  3. In the Import Curves to Sketch dialog, set the import options and click OK.
You can import the curve as a spline or a polyline. You can also choose to close the curve if it is open. See Curve Import Options.
The curve is imported into the sketch, and is added in addition to any sketch entities that are already within it. When replacing a specific spline, use the Undo action to revert back to the original spline.
