Analyzing the Results

You compare the pressure levels before and after the four-armed junctions. To check the correlation between pressure drop and mass flow rate, you switch off one pump to compare the pressure drops between other inlets and the outlet.

  1. Navigate to the network of the Ship to Shore Model and double-click the four_armed_junction_connected component (34).
In the Results mode of the Network View, all the simulation results of this component are shown as below:

Between arm 1,2,3 and arm 4 the pressure drops were calculated with the four_armed_junction_connected component using surrogates.

NoteIn Simcenter Flomaster, a negative mass flow rate indicates an inflow to the component.
To check the correlation between pressure drop and mass flow rate coming from Simcenter STAR-CCM+ surrogates, you switch off the Pump: Radial Flow component (7), which is connected to the arm 1 of the junction.
  1. In the Network of Ship to Shore Model, double-click on the pump icon of the component 7.
  2. In the Data tab of the Network View, select the Data Mode.
  3. In the property list, set Initial Speed to 0.
  4. Run the simulation.
  5. Check the new result of four_armed_junction_connected component (34).

The pressure drop is less when the mass flow rate decreases.
