Defining Reference Frame of a Region or Boundary

A user-defined reference frame allows you to account for the time-averaged effect of motion. This modeling approach does not provide a time-accurate solution, regardless of the time model in use.

There are two types of user-defined reference frame—Rotating or Rotating and Translating reference frames.
  1. For a Rotating and Translating reference frame, you must define it through Motion Specification. Refer to Defining a Reference Frame Using Motion Specification.
  2. For a Rotating reference frame, you also have the option to set a Direct Rotating Reference Frame. Refer to Defining a Direct Reference Frame.
