Defining a Reference Frame Using Motion Specification

You can define reference frames and use them in the Motion Specification under region and the Reference Frame Specification within boundaries.

To apply a reference frame in the Motion Specification:
  1. Right-click Tools > Reference Frames and select New.
Here you can define Rotating or Rotating and Translating reference frames.
  2. Select the Tools > Reference Frames > [reference frame] node and set the properties.
  3. Select the Regions > [region] > Physics Values > Motion Specification node and set the appropriate reference frame.
  4. (Optional) To set the outer wall of a rotating fluid region to static, select the Regions and select [rotating region] > Boundaries > [outer wall] > Physics Conditions > Reference Frame Specification and set Option to Lab Frame.
As the outer wall of the rotating region is static, you must explicitly change the reference frame of the outer wall boundary to a static frame. For more information, refer to Reference Frame Specification.
