Vortex Stretching Modification
Almost all two-equation models tend to predict a larger spreading rate for round jets than for plane jets, while the opposite effect is observed in experiments. The vortex-stretching modification is designed to overcome this round-jet/plane-jet anomaly [328]. In Simcenter STAR-CCM+, this modification is implemented for the Standard K-Omega model and is defined as follows:
Vortex-Stretching Modification | Formulation |
---|---|
Activated |
is defined as follows: (1233)
where: and:
If the cross-diffusion limiter is activated, is defined as: (1234)
|
Deactivated | is set to unity. |
The vortex-stretching modification is not available for the SST K-Omega model— is set to unity.
