Running the Simulation

You run the simulation for one second of physical time.

To define the time-step for the simulation:
  1. Select the Solvers > Implicit Unsteady node and set Time-Step to 0.01 s.
NoteThe time-step is chosen based on normal mode anlaysis of the structure and the physical time of the transient simulation. The first mode was found to be around 100 Hz and the imported CGNS data includes the fluid pressure applied to the hull over 1 second of physical time.
To help the convergence in the Solid Stress solver, you reduce the tolerance for the displacement stopping criterion:
  1. Select the Stopping Criteria > Displacement Criterion > Minimum Limit node and set Minimum Value to 5e-13.
To run the simulation:
  1. Click (Run) in the Solution toolbar.
As the simulation runs, you can view the Hull Stresses and Hull Fluid Pressure scenes update after each time-step.
  2. When the simulation has finished running, save it.
