Defining the gPROMS Region and Boundaries

To export data to gPROMS, you require a region that represents the external gPROMS network in the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ simulation. This region is associated with the external physics continuum.

When you select the gPROMS Export model (see Activating Physics Models for File Export), Simcenter STAR-CCM+ automatically creates a region that represents the gPROMS network. Each boundary of the gPROMS network region represents either a gPROMS environment zone or surface.

An environment zone can couple with a Simcenter STAR-CCM+ inlet or outlet boundary. A gPROMS surface couples with a Simcenter STAR-CCM+ wall boundary.

By default, the gPROMS region contains two boundaries (Inlet and Outlet). To represent other gPROMS environment zones or surfaces, you can create additional boundaries:

  1. Expand the Regions > [gPROMS Network] > Boundaries node.
  2. If required, create a boundary for each gPROMS environment zone or surface that you want to couple with a Simcenter STAR-CCM+ boundary.
  3. For each boundary that couples with a Simcenter STAR-CCM+ inlet or outlet, set Type to Mass Flow Inlet.
  4. For each boundary that couples with a Simcenter STAR-CCM+ wall boundary, set Type to Wall.
