Exporting Solution Data

Run the simulation to convergence and export the solution to a file.

  1. Define appropriate solver settings and stopping criteria for your simulation, then run it to convergence.
  2. When coupling Lagrangian phases, save the simulation before exporting any data.
Saving the simulation before export ensures that the latest particle data are included in the track file. As results on the track file are always appended, you are always advised to write a new track file, so that the file does not contain results from previous runs.
To export the solution to a file:
  1. Select the External Links > [Link 1] > Values > File node.
  2. To specify the file name and destination, set the Base Filename and Directory properties.
By default, Simcenter STAR-CCM+ saves the file to the current directory as solution.hdf5.
  3. Right-click the External Links > [Link 1] node and select Export File.
You can import the exported file in gPROMS for further analysis.
