Preparing Scenes for Shock and Mach Number

For visualization, you create two scalar scenes: a pressure coefficient scene to visualise the lambda shock on the wing and a Mach number scene.

You can use the scenes to visualise the solution while the simulation is running.
  1. Before creating a scalar scene to display the pressure coefficient, set the reference values for the field function:
    1. Select the Automation > Field Functions > Pressure Coefficient node.
    2. In the Properties window, enter the following values:
      Property Values
      Reference Density 1.177 kg/m^3
      Reference Velocity 291.68 m/s
      Reference Pressure 0.0 Pa
  2. To create a pressure coefficient scene:
    1. Right-click the Scenes node, and select New > Scalar.
    2. Rename Scalar Scene 1 to Pressure Coefficient.
    3. In the Vis toolbar, click (Save-Restore-Select Views) and select Standard Views > (-Y) left.
    4. Click Scene/Plot.
    5. Edit the Pressure Coefficient node and set the following properties:
      Node Property Setting
Scalar 1 Contour Style Smooth Filled
      Parts Parts Regions > Fluid > Boundaries > Fluid.OneraM6Wing and Fluid.TrailingEdgeSurface
      Scalar Field Function Pressure Coefficient
Color Bar Color Map blue-red balanced
Create another scalar scene to display the Mach number.
  1. To create a Mach number scene:
    1. Right-click the Scenes node, and select New > Scalar.
    2. Rename Scalar Scene 1 to Mach Number.
    3. Click Scene/Plot.
    4. Edit the Mach Number node and set the following properties:
      Node Property Setting
Scalar 1 Contour Style Smooth Filled
Parts Parts Regions > Fluid > Boundaries, Fluid.Symmetry
Scalar Field Function Mach Number > Lab Reference Frame
  2. In the Vis toolbar, click (Save-Restore-Select Views) and select Standard Views > (-Y) left.
  3. To return to the simulation tree, click Simulation.
  4. Save the simulation.
