Activating and Setting Up the S-Gamma Model

Activate the S-Gamma model and define the appropriate properties.

The S-Gamma model is activated in the Phase Model Selection dialog, where it can be selected from the Optional Models box.

To activate the S-Gamma model:

  1. Save a copy of the simulation. Name the copy verticalPipeSGamma.sim.
  2. Right-click the Physics 1 > Models > Multiphase > Eulerian Phases > Air > Models node and choose Select models....

In the Air Model Selection dialog:

  1. Select the Particle Size Distribution model from the Optional Models group box.
  2. Select the S-Gamma model from the Particle Size Distribution group box.
The Discrete Quadrature S-Gamma model is activated automatically.
  3. Click Close.

The Eulerian Phases > Air node appears as shown below.

Define the S-Gamma properties.

  1. Select the Air > Models > Discrete Quadrature S-Gamma node and make sure that the Number of S-Gamma Equations property is set to Two Equation.
This setting solves for both the transport of particle number density and the interfacial area density (zeroth and second moments).
  2. Select the Initial Conditions > Sauter Mean Diameter node and set Value to 0.003 m.
