Setting the Boundary Conditions

The air stream enters the heat exchanger with a velocity of 20 m/s and a temperature of 35°C. The coolant stream has a mass flow of 1.8 kg/s at a a temperature of 107°C.

  1. Select the Regions > Air Duct Upstream > Boundaries > Air Inlet node and set Type to Velocity Inlet.
  2. Edit the Air Inlet > Physics Values node and set the following properties:
    Node Property Setting
    Static Temperature Value 35°C
    Velocity Magnitude Value 20 m/s
  3. Select the Regions > Air Duct Downstream > Boundaries > Air Outlet node and set Type to Pressure Outlet.
  4. Select the Regions > Coolant Top > Boundaries > Coolant Inlet node and set Type to Mass Flow Inlet.
  5. Edit the Coolant Inlet > Physics Values node and set the following properties:
    Node Property Setting
Mass Flow Rate Value 1.8 kg/s
    Total Temperature Value 107°C
  6. Select the Regions > Coolant Base > Boundaries > Coolant Oulet node and set Type to Pressure Outlet.
  7. Save the simulation.
