Creating an Extrusion Feature
Use the same procedure to form an extrusion body or cut.
To create an extrusion feature:
-
Either:
- Right-click the profile that you wish to extrude and choose Extrude or Extrude Cut.
- Click
(Extrude) or
(Extrude Cut) in the 3D-CAD toolbar and choose the source for the extrusion.
- Select the profile within the 3D-CAD View window that you wish to extrude, then right-click and choose or Extrude Cut.
The Extrude panel appears, with the identity of the chosen sketch shown in the bottom of the panel.
-
Enter the extrusion parameters. See
Extrude Panel.
To change the Distance parameter:
- In the Extrude panel set the Distance.
- In the 3D-CAD View window, click and drag the arrow on the extrusion surface. If you choose the Two Way Symmetric or Two Way Asymmetric then two arrows appear. To rapidly change the size increment while using the arrows, see Feature Interactive Sizing.
Note The arrows only appear if the Method is set to Blind. In the 3D-CAD View scene, click and drag the arrow on the extrusion to the desired direction. If you define the Distance using a design parameter, the arrow is hidden in the scene. -
If you wish to extrude the profile to a face or body then set
Method to Up To Face or Up To
Body. Click inside the Target Face or Target
Body group box and select the desired target surface from the
3D-CAD View scene.
For more information, see Extrude Panel.
-
If you want to expose any properties as design parameters, click the
(Expose Parameter) button next to the property.
