Defining Boundary Conditions

Set the boundary types and specify turbulence settings at the flow boundaries. As GT-SUITE supplies all other boundary conditions, no other boundary specifications are required.

  1. Open the Regions > Manifold > Boundaries node.
  2. Multi-select the Cyl1, Cyl2, Cyl3, Cyl4, EGR, and Intake nodes, and set Type to Mass Flow Inlet.

  3. Right-click any selected boundary and select Edit.
  4. Set the following properties:
    Node Property Setting
Physics Conditions > Turbulence Specification Method Intensity + Length Scale
Physics Values > Turbulence Intensity Value 0.05
  5. Select the Intake > Physics Values > Turbulent Length Scale node and set Value to 0.005 m.
  6. Select the EGR > Physics Values > Turbulent Length Scale node and set Value to 0.0032 m.
  7. Multi-select the Cyl1, Cyl2, Cyl3, and Cyl4 nodes, right-click one of them and select Edit.
  8. Select the Physics Values > Turbulent Length Scale node and set Value to 0.0035 m.
  9. Save the simulation.
