  - Steady Flow: Lid-Driven Cavity Flow
    This tutorial demonstrates the performance of Simcenter STAR-CCM+ in solving a traditional square lid-driven cavity flow. The problem geometry consists of a two-dimensional 1 m² cavity. The cavity is covered by an impermeable wall that moves in the x-direction with constant velocity of 1 m/s. A stretched quadrilateral mesh with 6400 cells is used.

    This tutorial describes a steady airflow simulation over an obstacle that is mounted at the bottom wall of a three-dimensional channel.
  - Steady Flow: Laminar and Turbulent Flow in an S-Bend
    This tutorial demonstrates the flow of an incompressible gas through an s-bend of constant diameter (2 cm), for both laminar and turbulent flow. The first part of the tutorial covers the laminar flow, with a Reynolds number (Re) of 500, and the second part covers the turbulent flow, Re = 50,000. The same pipe geometry is used in both cases.

    Steady flow over a backward facing step is a typical scenario to investigate the behaviour of reattaching flows. Understanding the behaviour of the flow is crucial for many applications such as designing heat exhangers, evalutating aerodynamic performance and improving flow control strategies.
  - Anisotropic Flow: Cyclone Separator
    The flow inside a cyclone separator is characterised by strong swirling motion and three-dimensional boundary layers. Properly accounting for these effects is a challenging problem for CFD simulations. This tutorial presents the initial step in setting up a coarse mesh cyclone flow simulation.
    - Loading an Existing Simulation
      For this tutorial, you use an existing simulation file from the 3D-CAD: Cyclone Separator tutorial. This file contains the geometry for the cyclone.
    - Creating the Fluid Region
      To use 3D-CAD geometry in a simulation, you first convert the model to geometry parts, and then assign these parts to regions. After creating the regions, you define boundary types on flow boundaries.
    - Generating the Volume Mesh
      After assigning parts to regions, you can define the mesh settings for the simulation to generate a polyhedral volume mesh. For this simulation, the polyhedral mesher is used in conjunction with the advancing layer mesher to build a mesh suitable for predicting the swirling flow inside the cyclone.

      Physics models define the physical variables and phenomena in the simulation. In this tutorial, the K-Omega turbulence model is used to limit the simulation run time.

      For this simulation, a uniform inlet velocity profile with specified turbulence intensity is sufficient.

Preparing a Scalar Scene

Use a scalar scene to visualize the velocity on a section through the cyclone chamber.

You can use this scene to visualize the solution while the simulation is running.

Create a scalar scene.

To create a section plane:

Right-click the Derived Parts node and select New > Section > Plane Section.

In the Create Plane Section dialog, set the following properties:

Input Parts	Regions > Main Body and Outlet Pipe
Origin	[0, 0, 0] m
Normal	[0, 1, 0] m
Display	Existing Displayer > Scalar 1

Click Create followed by Close.

In the Vis toolbar, click (Save-Restore-Select Views) and select Views > +Y > Up -Z.

Define the scene settings:

Click Scene/Plot.

Edit the Scalar Scene 1 node and set the following properties:
