Loading the Initial Simulation
The starting file for this tutorial contains predefined solid regions (one for the blade hub and body, one for the leading edge and trailing edge spars), interfaces, and a physics continuum for the stress analysis.
To load the initial simulation:
- Launch Simcenter STAR-CCM+.
- Select .
- In the Load a File dialog, click Browse....
- In the Open dialog, navigate to the solidStress folder of the downloaded tutorial files.
- Select windturbineBlade_start.sim then click Open.
- In the Load a File dialog, click OK.
- Save the simulation as windturbineBlade.sim.
-
You can review the predefined settings by expanding the relevant nodes:
- Physics Continuum
- The provided physics continuum
models an isotropic linear elastic material. The simulation is steady-state. During
the tutorial, you select an additional model for the calculation of the normal
modes.
- Regions and Interfaces
- There are two regions defined, one
for the blade (including blade hub) and one for the leading edge and trailing edge
spars. These regions are connected by three bonded mapped contact interfaces to
ensure that the different parts do not separate when calculating the normal
modes.
