Force (EMP)
This report is available only for Eulerian Multiphase (EMP) simulations. The Force (EMP) report is similar to the Force report. It reports the moment exerted on each part due to interaction with the EMP phases.
The force on a surface is computed as:
where:
- and are the pressure and shear force vectors on the surface face .
- is a user-specified direction vector that indicates the direction in which to compute the force.
The Eulerian Multiphase (EMP) flow model assumes that the pressure is the same in all phases, therefore the pressure force vector on surface face is computed as:
where is the face static pressure, is the face area vector, and is the reference pressure.
The Eulerian Multiphase (EMP) flow model solves the momentum conservation equations for each phase. The shear force is a function of the physical properties and velocity, therefore for EMP simulations the shear force exerted on the surface is the sum of the contributions from each phase, defined as:
where is the wall shear stress from phase at boundary face .
