Particle Mass Flow
The particle mass flow report describes the rate at which mass in the form of particles flows across a specified boundary.
Particle Mass Flow Report Properties
The mass flow rate of particles through a boundary is computed as:
where is the mass flow rate of Lagrangian parcels crossing each face . The sign convention is for a positive value of to indicate mass flow out of the domain.
The report does not include the following as mass flow sources:
- Particles rebounding from the boundary.
- Particles sticking to the boundary.
- Mass flow due to the continuous phase.
- Mass flow through DEM trap walls.
For each face:
where is the particle mass flow rate of the ith parcel, for parcels crossing face .

Smooth Values |
When this property is activated, the report is calculated using node (interpolated) values of the chosen quantity rather than cell values. |
