Importing the Geometry

The simulation set-up process starts by importing a CAD geometry in a Parasolid model part format.

To import the geometry:

  1. Launch Simcenter STAR-CCM+.
  2. Start a simulation.
You are advised to run this tutorial in parallel using at least 8 cores. This tutorial case can take a long time to run to convergence on one core.
  3. Select File > Import > Import CAD Model into 3D-CAD....
  4. In the Open dialog, navigate to the heatTransferAndRadiation folder of the downloaded tutorials bundle.
  5. Select graphicsCardAndEnclosure.x_b then click Open.

A total of 26 body groups are imported into 3D-CAD. No part contacts are generated during the import process.

  6. Save the simulation as graphicsCardCooling.sim.
