Setting up the Meshers

For this simulation, you generate a volume mesh using the polyhedral mesher for the bulk mesh, and the thin mesher for the graphics card.

To define the mesh operation:
  1. Right-click the Geometry > Operations node and select New > Mesh > Automated Mesh.
  2. In the Create Automated Mesh Operation dialog:
    1. Select all parts from the Parts list.
    2. Select the following meshers, in order:
      Group Mesher
      Surface Meshers Surface Remesher
      Core Volume Meshers Polyhedral Mesher
Optional Boundary Layer Meshers Prism Layer Mesher
      Optional Volume Meshers Thin Mesher
    3. Click OK.
Modify the mesher settings:
  1. Expand the Automated Mesh > Meshers node.
  2. Select the Surface Remesher node and activate the Perform Compatibility Refinement option.
When activated, this option increases the number of faces based on the mesh size on nearby surfaces.
  3. Edit the Operations > Automated Mesh > Default Controls > Core Mesh Optimization node and set the following parameters:
    Property Setting
    Optimization Cycles 3
    Quality Threshold 0.7
  4. Edit the Thin Mesher node and set the following parameters:
    Property Setting
    Automatic Thin/Bulk Shape Detection Activated
    Optimization Cycles 3
    Quality Threshold 0.7
Modify the default controls for the mesh:
  1. Edit the Operations > Automated Mesh > Default Controls node and set the following parameters:
    Node Property Setting
    Base Size Value 0.02 m
Prism Layer Controls > Prism Layer Total Thickness Percentage of Base 30.0
Volume Growth Rate Volume Growth Rate 1.1
Maximum Tet Size Percentage of base 140.0
  2. Save the simulation.
