Preparing Scenes for Visualization

Create three scalar scenes: one to display the velocity magnitude on a plane cutting through the tower case, one to display the temperature on the graphics card, and one to display the thermal conductivity tensor of the graphics card materials.

Begin by creating the section plane:
  1. Create a scalar scene.
  2. Create a section plane with the following properties:
    Property Setting
Input Parts Parts > Air Case
    origin [0.0, 0.0, 0.035] m
    normal [0.0, 0.0, 1.0] m
Display Existing Displayer > Scalar 1
  3. Select the Scenes > Scalar Scene 1 > Scalar 1 > Scalar Field node and set Function to Velocity > Lab Reference Frame > Magnitude.
  4. Select the Scalar 1 node and set Contour Style to Smooth Filled.
Set up the second scalar scene for displaying the temperature on the graphics card:
  1. Create a scalar scene.
  2. Edit the Scenes > Scalar Scene 2 > Scalar 1 > Parts node.
  3. In the Parts dialog, expand the Parts node and select all items contained within.
  4. In the same dialog, deselect the following items:
    • Air Case
    • Air Inlet
    • Air Outlet
    • Block
    • Inlet Fan Casing
    • Outlet Fan Casing
  5. Select the Scalar 1 > Scalar Field node and set the following properties:
    Property Setting
    Function Temperature
    Units C
Set up the third scalar scene to display the thermal conductivity tensor of the materials:
  1. Select and drag the Scalar Scene 2 node to the Scenes node to create a copy of Scalar Scene 2.
  2. Rename Scalar Scene 2 copy to Scalar Scene 3.
  3. Select the Scalar 1 > Scalar Field node and set Function to Thermal Conductivity Tensor > norm > Infinity.
